Last day at Zokei University
22 July 2010: This was the final day of this year. All students presented their films again and received feedback from Mori-Sensei and the individual students. It seems quite common that some of the final films are incomplete, such as only partly coloured or even contained parts of the animatic.
Mori-Sensei's feedback on my animation of "My story" was quite positiv, since student films are often marked by an individual or unusual style, which in my animation was the colouring of only the animated characters.
Zokei University Open Days and big presentation show of the final animations
17 July 2010: For Zokei University Open Days many all animation tutors and important guests of the animation business attended to watch and comment on the final projects of the all the animation courses.

Animation and colouring
15 July 2010: For the colouring I used simple block colours and only coloured the animated characters. I started colouring backgrounds, yet as individual projects in which we had do each production step by ourself and the short time we had to finish the animation, I wanted to keep consistency in the film, so the backgrounds will remain clear outlines. By this there will be more emphasize on the characters and the storyline.

Storyboard and Animatic of the "Open Brief"
Just as for "My Story" we didn't spend a lot of time on preproduction and started straight away doing the storyboard and animatic, as we only had about 5 weeks to finish this project. Therefore my character will a character I already designed for previous projects.
The story is a about a girl spotting an emu on football grond. She tries to slowly and quietly walk over to it to take a picture, but the emu doesn't like her coming so close, so it runs after her to attack. While running away the girl turns around, takes a picture and the flash making the emu dizzy gives her time to jump over the fence of the football ground where she is safe again.

New module "Open Brief"
10th June 2010: Since Pantomime is finished now Thursday mornings will continue with a different module about 2D Animation in which we are supposed to make a short animation of about 30 seconds. This module will finish on 22nd July 2010. (Our tutor of this module only speaks very little English so the instructions to me were not quite clear) As far as I understood we are to invent an interesting or funny short story in which a run or walk cycle is involved.
Today we started off drawing walk cycles again. The students could use any kind of character for this, so some used just simple shapes and structure figures, others used animals or anime characters for their walk cycle. We also only drew the frames from the first to the second stride, so only one passing position and put them on a cycle, as the frames from the second to the first stride are almost the same only with the legs switched. After linetesting them our tutor went to each student to give feedback. (This animation was just a little practise, so we did not save it as movie data. Yet here is on frame of it).
